Select Robot Hand-Eye Calibration Workflow

Hand-eye calibration defines the spatial relationship between the camera and robot coordinate systems, allowing object poses detected by the vision system to be transformed into robot coordinates for accurate grasping. Calibration quality directly affects grasping accuracy.

After the vision system has been set up, hand-eye calibration must be completed before the system can be put into operation. Recalibration is recommended in the following situations:

  • The camera has moved relative to the robot base in an Eye-to-Hand setup or to the end flange in an Eye-in-Hand setup.

  • The camera or robot has been replaced.

  • The robot working environment or layout has changed.

  • Higher picking accuracy is required.

  • A collision or movement causes changes in the position of the robot or camera.

  • Picking inaccuracies have occurred, and extrinsic parameter errors increased.

  • The system has been in operation for an extended period and requires recalibration to maintain stability.
